General Notes
元寶餃子 is an excellent Chinese restaurant specializing in dumplings, as the name suggests. They have a location in Burlingame (which is the one I went to), as well as a location in the outer sunset. I don't have much to say other than the fact that they offer great food at a reasonable price point. The menu is nice and concise and focuses on the things that they do well.
Negatives
> I'm not a huge fan of their chili oil. It's got a slightly unpleasant taste akin to burnt chili crisps.
Dishes Tasted
- ★★★☆ Beef Noodle Soup -- Solid beef noodle soup, one of the better ones that I've had. The broth has a nice flavor and isn't overly spiced. I like that they give a variety of different cuts of beef like shank, tendon, etc. The "spicy" option is a good level of spice for me.
- ★★☆☆ 小笼包 -- Decent but relatively unspectacular. I think the dish could use a touch more sugar, either in the vinegar or the filling itself. Otherwise, pretty solid.
- ★★★☆ 羊肉胡萝卜饺子 -- These dumplings are delightful. Flavor is excellent, wrappers are solid and have a good chewy bounce. Not quite as good as Dumpling Home, but they also don't offer lamb dumplings.
- ★★★★ 土豆丝 -- Probably one of the best 土豆丝 I've ever had. Thinly sliced, cooked perfectly, and the slight mala flavor adds a wonderful touch.
- ★★★☆ 凉拌黄瓜 -- nice flavor and overall good texture. Although there were a couple of places where I felt that the texture was a little off ... almost a little too "crisp"
