YAKS on the 5 is a pretty well-known burger joint in the middle of nowhere, somewhere between Redding and Ashland. It's listed as one of the "top 100 restaurant destinations in the US", and it also has gotten really popular on xhs. The net result is that the lines are VERY long. I got here at around 3pm on Saturday of Labor Day weekend, and I ended up waiting an hour before I was able to order and get my food. The food is genuinely very good though, definitely one of the better burgers I've had. Choose one based on your taste -- you can't go wrong. Expect a very messy meal, the burgers are loaded with fried onion strings that fall out in all directions. Worth a visit, there are some cool waterfalls nearby if you're interested.

• ★★★☆ come to jesus -- jack cheese, sauteed onions, bacon crumbles, fried onion strings, house made lemon-ginger marmalade, garlic aioli, red leaf lettuce. Overall just a good burger.
• ★★★☆ cilantro bomb -- jack cheese, cajun rub, cilantro, fried onion strings, lime aioli, squeeze of lime. I really like the flavor of this -- it has a LOT of sauce, which is what I like in a burger.
