General Notes

When I think of simple American food, I typically think of diner classics. But the star of this restaurant is actually the veggies - they serve a wide variety of farm-to-table vegetable oriented dishes that go with main courses, or you can just sample a bunch of different vegetable dishes. An interesting concept for sure, and executed decently well. My go-to place if I haven't been eating enough vegetables later and I'm looking for something lighter.

Positives

> Many of their plates come with two market vegetable sides. You can also do what I did, which is order their "Market Plate" - essentially just three different market vegetable sides.
> Considering that I ordered a plate full of vegetables, the food was actually very good. My ratings might not necessarily reflect that, but keep in mind that I made a mistake and ordered the sweet potato, something I don't really like that much. The food here blows other veggie-oriented restaurants that I've been to like Lemonade in SF out of the water.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Tomato, Basil & Mozzarella -- One of their special market plate items. Decent ingredients and pretty refreshing. The mozzarella had a good flavor but didn't have the best texture - it was cut up into little cubes and was a bit hard/dry.
  • ★★★☆ Roasted Artichoke with Parmesan -- Excellent flavor, with a light roasted feel and the parmesan complements it well. It was slightly soft for my preference, but otherwise the texture was good.
  • ★★☆☆ Brussel Sprouts -- Interesting flavor - seems like a honey-horseradish sauce. The brussel sprouts were a bit overcooked for my preference, but the flavor was decent.
  • ★☆☆☆ Roasted Sweet Potato with Sour Cream & Scallions -- Not the greatest texture. It doesn't have a nice crisp exterior; kind of like stale bread versus nicely toasted bread. There wasn't quite enough sour cream nor scallions for the corresponding amount of sweet potato. Honestly kind of my fault for ordering this: I don't actually like sweet potato that much but I've been ordering it somewhat frequently since having it at Sons and Daughters
  • ★☆☆☆ Roasted Cauliflower with Tahini -- A bit too soft and doesn't have the ideal crisp exterior texture. The sauce is decent though.
