General Notes

A casual Ukrainian eatery in a district that Google Maps labels as "Ukrainian Village". As far as I'm aware, all of the servers here are actually Ukrainian. This restaurant is a gem - I didn't have particularly high expectations of Ukrainian food coming in, but I was very pleasantly surprised and loved the food. Conceptually, this restaurant feels very much like Mamaleh's Delicassen near Kendall Square - it's a casual Ukrainian eatery, and it also has a small store from which you can buy various merchandise. I would highly recommend giving this place a try during ... all hours of the day.

Positives

> Excellent food, with a lot of interesting Ukrainian specialties.
> Open 24 hours! I came here for lunch at a more normal time, but this can be a great spot if you're looking for some place to eat late at night.
> Nice environment for a casual eatery. There is outdoor seating available, and there are huge windows all around the restaurant, so there is plenty of light inside as well.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★★★ Sauerkraut (side) -- I ordered this as a side to the Veal Goulash. Before eating this, I had a pretty negative impression of Sauerkraut, but I actually really loved this. It was warm and savory, unlike other pickled foods. Of course, it was strongly acidic, but had a very different flavor from other pickled foods.
  • ★★★☆ Ola's Famous Veal Goulash -- Veal braised in a creamy herb sauce served with mashed potatoes. Incredibly delicious - the veal is tender, the sauce is excellent, and the mashed potatoes are fluffy.
