General Notes

Excellent restaurant / cheese shop / marketplace in Valley Ford, not far from Bodega Bay. They specialize in dairy products, mostly cheese, and they use their cheese extensively in their restaurant. The food is really good. Their cheeses are high quality and their sandwiches are excellent. Their milk and soft serve are divine (definitely try their affogato); although you can't buy cartons of milk, you can buy an individual glass of milk or in the form of a latte. Rustic vibes and spacious. They also sometimes have other special offerings, like on one weekend when I came here they also had bbq options.

Positives

> Their potato salad and chips are pretty good sides -- would recommend getting it.

Negatives

> Depending on the day / wind patterns, it may smell very strongly of cow manure outside (in that case, you'll definitely want to sit inside). But if you get lucky then it won't smell very much at all, I did sit outside once.
> Don't get their side salad unless you're REALLY into funky flavors. The dressing is really strong and to me tastes like cow manure, although I think it's just a really strong blue cheese.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★★★ affogato -- vanilla soft serve w/ espresso. This was SO GOOD and satisfying. The quality of their soft serve is REALLY GOOD, definitely worth giving a try.
  • ★★★☆ latte -- One of the better lattes I've had, primarily because of the milk. They use milk that they produce to make the drink. It has a very milky / cow flavor, and it is super "xiang".
  • ★★★☆ cheese flight -- A flight of miscellaneous cheeses, from fresh cheeses (mozzarella, ricotta, farmer's cheese, cheese curds) to more aged cheeses. Actually quite a lot of cheese for $14, definitely worth giving a try if you like cheese.
  • ★★★☆ turkey sandwich -- Solid sandwich, I don't remember it super well.
  • ★★☆☆ frittata grilled cheese -- the egg was cooked quite well (super tender / soft) but not my favorite flavor, pretty peppery.
  • ★★☆☆ nosh plate -- housemade nut bread, fresh mozarella cheese, pickles, veggies, soft egg, etc. Decent although not particularly noteworthy, I'd go for one of their sandwiches instead.
  • ★★★☆ tuna melt -- onions, pickles, kalamata olives, hwy 1 fontina
  • ★★★☆ VF Grilled Cheese -- rosemary ham, kimchi, hwy 1 fontina
