General Notes
Tsujita is a noodle shop in Sawtelle that specializes in tsukemen / ramen. Their tsukeme is so good, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a try, especially if you've never had tsukemen. Ramen can sometimes be a bit heavy, especially for lunch, but tsukemen takes ramen and makes it a bit more refreshing, with the cool noodles and acidity. Each component is executed well and it's really cool how the meal evolves -- the waitress offered to bring me extra noodles or add hot water to the dipping sauce to turn it into a soup. The highlights of the meal were definitely the ajitama (perfectly cooked, incredible complex flavor) and the broth.
Dishes Tasted
- ★★★★ Ajitama Tsukemen -- Noodles are thick and chewy; lime adds a nice touch of acidity. The broth is so flavorful, just the right thickness, and surprisingly refreshing b/c of the acidity. Other components in the soup are delightful too. After I ran out of noodles, the waitress offered to add some water to the broth and turn it into a soup; the dish just keeps evolving.
