General Notes

Truth BBQ didn't quite live up to the hype. The food was good but not to the degree that I'd expect given the long waits (I got there at around 5pm on a Saturday and waited for nearly an hour) and the fact that they regularly sell out long before closing. The flavors were excellent, but most of the meats tended to be a bit drier and not as juicy as I would have hoped. It's still a good bbq restaurant, just not one I'd get there early and wait an hour for. They apparently also have bbq ribs as a special on Saturday which I'm very intrigued by, but I didn't get there early enough to experience it.

Positives

> They have a "plate" option which allows you to select three meats (1/3 pound each) and two single sides for $32, you save a bit of money and get to try a lot of things as an one-person party
> If you order the brisket, there's a chance that you might be given a small end piece if it remains.

Negatives

> Lines are very long, expect to wait ~1h, apparently they also sell out pretty quickly, so definitely don't get there too late.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ banana pudding -- not particularly noteworthy and a little too sweet for my taste but still pretty yummy.
  • ★★★☆ Tater Tot Casserole -- pretty delicious; kind of like a super cheesy mcdonald's style hash brown.
  • ★★☆☆ Brussel Sprouts -- The flavor is excellent, but the brussels themselves are overcooked, a little too mushy.
  • ★☆☆☆ Sausage (jalapeno cheddar) -- not a fan of this, the cheddar oozing out of it is weird and it has an unpleasant "tough" texture. Flavor is decent though.
  • ★★★☆ Pulled Pork -- probably my favorite out of the meats, relatively tender + juicy.
  • ★★★☆ Pork Ribs
  • ★★☆☆ Brisket -- amazing flavor but a little dry imo.
