General Notes

The Italian Homemade Company has a cool concept -- customizable pastas. There is a wide selection of pastas and sauces, and you can mix and match to your heart's desire. Ultimately, I wasn't very adventurous (the combinations we tried were pretty much all classic combinations), but the possibility is there! Overall, I found that all of their pastas were way overcooked. The sauces were decent but the pasta itself wasn't great. Which is a bit of a letdown, since there were some aspects of the pastas which were clearly really good, like the strong potato-y flavor on the gnocchi. With that being said, it's probably still worth a try, especially considering it's one of the more affordable options for Italian food. It also doubles as a mini-store -- they sell some of their pastas / sauces / etc. Note that this is definitely much more of a casual dining experience.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★☆☆☆ Pappardelle Bolognese -- Again, the pasta was way overcooked, which definitely made the experience not quite as enjoyable.
  • ★★☆☆ Meat Lasagna -- Beef and pork bolognese, bechamel, parmigiano. Pretty solid aside from the fact that the lasagna noodles are overcooked. Although I feel like overall, lasagna is a little bit more forgiving for overcooking so it kind of worked in this case. A pretty hefty portion.
  • ★☆☆☆ Gnocchi with Brown Butter Sage sauce -- flavor on the gnocchi is excellent, but the pasta is way overcooked. The brown butter sage sauce is a bit disappointing; the butter sauce was not "brown" at all, and didn't have the nutty flavors that I associate with brown butter.
