General Notes
Interesting Burmese restaurant at the edge of downtown Ojai. It's honestly kind of remarkable that there's a Burmese restaurant in this tiny town at all because all the patrons and employees are either white or hispanic. I came here for dinner, but they also offer brunch / coffee here. The crispy rice salad was INCREDIBLE (we ended up getting a second order of it because it was so good) but everything else was mediocre at best. Come here for the crispy rice salad but everything else is skippable.
Dishes Tasted
- ☆☆☆☆ Grilled Vermillon Rockfish -- tomato curry, kale, Burmese seafood paste. The rockfish itself was cooked decently well, but the curry is just gross. It's super watery too, so it doesn't cling to the fish at all.
- ★★★★ crispy rice salad -- bomba rice, cabbage, burmese nut mix, spicy herb chutney. Refreshing, amazing textural contrast, and gets your veggies in. Definitely give this one a try. It's a pretty hearty dish because of the rice and nuts.
- ★☆☆☆ naan -- tandoori oven bread, garlic herb butter. The garlic herb butter is solid but the naan itself is mediocre; I prefer a more crisp texture.
- ★☆☆☆ bluefin tuna crudo -- bluefin tuna, coconut, lemongrass, squid ink sesame rice crisp. The tuna itself is alright but the flavor is pretty bland / uninteresting
