General Notes

The Detour is more commonly known for their arcade, bar, and frequent events (in fact, I came here for the first time to participate in their Thursday trivia event), but the food here is also really solid! The menu takes inspiration from a variety of different Asian cuisines and includes interesting items such as okonomiyaki tots, longanisa corn dogs, crispy sticky adobo wings. Each of the items I tried were delicious, and I'm excited to try their other offerings!

Positives

> There are a lot of interesting events that take place here, including smash tournaments, trivia, and much more. They've also got an arcade in the back, so there's plenty of other reasons to visit this place as well!
> Overall, the prices are very reasonable, and I hear that they also have a happy hour that ends at 7pm.

Negatives

> This place can get VERY busy, particularly during events like trivia night. I came here on a Thursday trivia night and we could not get a table anywhere at all -- we ended up resorting to using a couple of chairs as a makeshift table for ourselves while we stood.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★★☆ Longanisa Corn Dogs -- filipino pork sausage, soy calamansi dijonnaise. All around a solid dish -- the sausage was nice, corn had a nice texture, and the dijonnaise was bomb.
  • ★★★★ Okonomiyaki Tots -- tater tots, cabbage, kewpie, katsu sauce, scallion, seaweed, bonito flakes. This dish is REALLY, really good. It has a very similar flavor profile to okonomiyaki, but also has the delightful crispy texture and flavor of fried potatoes.
