General Notes

Tavern on Rush is actually an upscale steakhouse in River North, but I came here on a Saturday morning for brunch. There was a lot of outdoor seating, which we took advantage of, which was a pleasant experience. The food was not particularly noteworthy but generally pretty good. A decent option for brunch.

Positives

> The ample outdoor seating is certainly a plus. Especially in the morning during summer - it's quite a pleasant experience.

Negatives

> The interior is a bit odd for an upscale steakhouse. Certainly not the nicest interior, which I walked through on my way to the bathroom.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Crab Cake Benedict -- The highlight of the dish was actually the breakfast potatoes, which were essentially smashed baby potatoes topped with diced caramelized onions. Crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and the onions add a nice flavor. The eggs were poached well and the crab cake was decent. Unfortunately, the English muffin was dry and mealy - it needed to be a bit thinner and toasted. The hollandaise was okay but was a bit bland and had a weird appearance.
