General Notes
A solid Chinese restaurant specializing in Shanghai dishes like 生煎包 (definitely try these!) and 炒年糕. Great food at very reasonable prices. Pretty popular place, can get fairly busy. Definitely bring friends so that you can try a variety of dishes.
Dishes Tasted
- ★☆☆☆ 炒面 -- Nothing particularly noteworthy -- pretty much what you'd expect from typical stir-fried noodles.
- ★★★☆ Eggplant Mushroom Basil -- Eggplant and mushroom are not normally ingredients I enjoy very much, but this was very well cooked and the sauce was delightful -- just the right thick consistency and well-balanced flavor.
- ★★☆☆ 干煸四季豆 -- Your average green beans; good flavor but a bit limp. Doesn't quite have that crisp texture and crackled skin.
- ★★☆☆ 炒年糕 -- Solid but not especially noteworthy stir-fried rice cakes.
- ★★☆☆ 小笼包 -- Average XLB; decent flavor, not much soup.
- ★★★★ 上海生煎包 -- These are THE BEST, and in my opinion their flagship dish. There's tons of soup and each component is great, but what really stands out is the sesame seeds on the bottom fried side; so well fried and adds a lovely texture + nutty flavor.
