General Notes
Tano bakery is a pop-up bakery that opens every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday in the Fidi location of Paper Son Coffee (somewhere I've been to multiple times for different pop-ups -- they seem like they're pretty accommodating / friendly to pop-ups). They have a lot of very interesting and unique pastries with a lot of Asian influences. A bit more on the expensive side, but the pastries are really good, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a try.
Negatives
> The line can get pretty long; expect ~20-30m in the morning. I guess a lot of people stop by here on their way to work.
Dishes Tasted
- ★★☆☆ salted egg kabocha sourdough foccacia -- malaysian salted egg sauce, fried curry leaf. Pretty soft, nice flavor, but doesn't feel particularly noteworthy.
- ★★☆☆ earl grey banana bread -- earl grey crumble, roasted banana, earl grey, brown butter. I like the texture contrast with the crumble on top and soft bread on bottom. The flavor is pretty muted other than the banana, not a big fan of banana flavor in general.
- ★★★★ yuzu poppyseed cream puff -- So good, the poppyseed added a nice texture and the yuzu and the cream went together very well. A bit difficult / messy to eat though
- ★★★☆ passion fruit mochi -- cookie, house made mochi, freeze dried passion fruit. Really unique, a giant piece of mochi baked onto a cookie. I like the flavor + texture, lighter feel than most cookies but super satisfying.
- ★★☆☆ ube salt bread -- ube filled salt bread. The salt bread itself was meh (felt a little stale), but the ube filling was so good. The ratio of filling / salt bread was a little off, too much filling.
