I've been here twice - once to try the taiyaki and once to try the souffle pancakes. The taiyaki is highly overrated - this is one of those dishes that seems really appealing on paper and in pictures, but is definitely not worth it. While the individual components of the dessert are prepared well, there isn't much that differentiates it from egg waffles. You're essentially paying $8 for a very hallowed out taiyaki that tastes exactly like egg waffles and soft serve. On the other hand, I really enjoyed the souffle pancakes - it was similarly expensive ($9), but it was delicious - a really interesting, fluffy texture and the toppings worked really well. Would recommend giving their souffle pancakes a try, not so much their taiyaki.
> One very positive aspect of the food here (even if you get the taiyaki) is that it's very aesthetic and Instagram-able.
> The souffle pancakes are wonderful! Fluffy, sweet but not too sweet, and creamy.
> Quite overpriced. In order to fill it with ice cream, the taiyaki is very hallowed out. The result is essentially that you're paying $8 for something that tastes very similar to a waffle cone.
> The ice cream is soft serve. I'm not at all a fan of soft serve ice cream, although it did taste surprisingly good for soft serve.
> Their souffle pancakes are only available from 11am to 2pm on weekends (and currently only available in their NYC and Boston locations).
> The shop has very limited seating space. This isn't a huge issue for the taiyaki when it's not too cold but can be a big problem when it's cold or you're trying to eat a souffle pancake.
