General Notes
A friend highly recommended Sweet Maple to me (as "the best breakfast restaurant of all time"), and I was not disappointed. They really are a classic brunch restaurant (with massive portions too), but executed really well. They've got several locations across the bay, notably in SF, Palo Alto, and Cupertino. Would definitely return to try some of their other offerings. And definitely try their millionaire's bacon. The line can get somewhat long, but it's actually a fairly spacious restaurant, so the line moves fairly quickly.
Dishes Tasted
- ★★★☆ Millionaire's Bacon Sampler Platter -- original, citron, cinnamon, rosemary. I like how it's perfectly rendered -- it's still fatty and intensely savory but not overly greasy. I liked the rosemary the most!
- ★★☆☆ Marnier French Toast -- french toast, creamy grand marnier (citrus) batter served with pure Vermont maple syrup, butter & sugar powder. I like the citrusy flavor, the french toast itself is decent.
- ★★★☆ south of the border scramble -- chorizo, cherry pepper, avocado, pepper jack, side of pico de gallo. Served with potatoes and toast. I haven't had a scramble in a while (after all ... most of them are pretty ordinary), but the flavors on this were incredible. Potatoes are decent, toast is kinda meh. But oh man the scramble is delicious.
