General Notes
Upscale sushi restaurant in Mountain View. Overall, the food is pretty good but it's _very_ expensive (at least, if you order a la carte); probably not worth the price point and I wouldn't go on my own accord. I would probably order omakase instead.
Dishes Tasted
- ★★☆☆ wagyu
- ★★☆☆ anago -- very tender + juicy
- ★★★☆ hokkaido uni
- ★★★☆ amaebi -- topped with a little uni, which is a weird combination imo but they're both delicious so can't go wrong with it
- ★★★☆ shoyu ikura
- ★★☆☆ king salmon
- ★★☆☆ iwana
- ★★★☆ otoro -- pretty solid, hard to go wrong with this one.
- ★★☆☆ hon maguro -- bluefin tuna, served with cured egg yolk, which was a little weird
- ★★☆☆ aji
- ★★☆☆ kanpachi toro -- amberjack belly
- ★★★★ nodoguro -- blackthroat seaperch. Seared, delicious
- ★★★☆ Kani Kamameshi -- japanese kettle rice, hokkaido snow crab, ikura. Expensive but very yummy
- ★★★☆ Tempura Moriawase -- black tiger prawn, seasonal vegetables
- ★★☆☆ Gindara Saikyo Yaki -- miso cured black cod, soy milk dashi, edamame. The accompaniments are ... weird and don't go with the dish at all. The fish itself is excellent though
- ★★☆☆ Kanpachi Tataki -- Japanese amberjack, white ponzu, seasonal fruit. Alright flavor
- ★☆☆☆ Hotate Crudo -- hokkaido scallop, sesame, miso, yuzu. Meh flavor
- ★★☆☆ Ika Nuta -- monterey squid, sumiso, fuji apple. Decent, not particularly noteworthy though. It was mostly tentacles
- ★★☆☆ Ankimo -- It was very soft and mild in flavor, which is probably good but also just not what I'm used to. The sauce is nice.
- ★★☆☆ Miso Soup
- ★★☆☆ Edamame
