General Notes
"Korean soul food" is an accurate way to describe the food here. They have a small menu of super comforting dishes. There aren't a whole lot of places that'll serve jokbal and gukbap, it's great to see them both. Their menu is pretty meat-oriented without much vegetables; definitely ask for more of their kimchi and radish kimchi (both were really good). The neighborhood is a bit sus, but the food is excellent.
Dishes Tasted
- ★★☆☆ Kalguksu -- hand-cut noodles in a rich galbitang broth, simmered with tender beef for a savory and comforting flavor. I found it to be a bit too thick (too much starch in the broth) and some of the other side ingredients that were added were not my favorite, but overall decent.
- ★★★☆ Jokbal
- ★★★☆ Bossam -- tender, intensely savory, I like that it's served with salted shrimp
- ★★★☆ Gukbap -- unfortunately it's just meat and doesn't have any of the other bits / pieces of pork, but overall still great flavor and pairs delightfully with rice.
- ★★★☆ Kimchi Pancake with Pork -- crispy savory pancake with kimchi and tender pork, pan-fried to a golden crisp. Flavor is excellent, excellent texture. Be warned, this one is quite spicy
