General Notes

Overall, good quality "omakase" at a reasonable price point. Certainly not cheap, but in relation to the quality of the sushi, it's great value (especially considering that this restaurant is no-tipping). It's not going to be mindblowingly good like a $250 omakase, but each individual item is executed well ad consistently good. It's also nice that they bring each individual course to you, and they do a great job of pacing the courses. They offer a variety of different set menus depending on how hungry you are, so you can order depending on how you're feeling. Good food, reasonable price point, nice vibes. Certainly worth giving a try, either in NY or LA.

Positives

> The rice is warm, loosely packed, and has the appropriate amount of vinegar. I think this is often what differentiates good and great sushi, so this was a good signal.
> The dishes which already come with sauce are a bit more heavy handed, which I really like. The tuna sashimi, for example, has quite a bit of ponzu which is delicious. If you like more subtle flavors, this might not be the place for you.
> No tip required; the price of the menu already incorporates tip!
> The atmosphere of the restaurant is wonderful. The interior is modern and sleek, and I really love the wood accents on black.
> They do a great job of pacing each course, which are brought to your table separately.

Negatives

> They don't accept reservations, so you'll have to come day of. I'm not sure how long the lines typically are, although we arrived relatively early for lunch and didn't have to wait at all. Dinner might be more crowded.
