General Notes

Silky Kitchen is a relatively new Hunan restaurant near Union Square. The restaurant swings casual and straddles the line between fast-casual and a traditional restaurant. I had high hopes for the food here coming in, but I found myself somewhat disappointed. As a whole, the flavors were decent but the textures of the dishes weren't my favorite. Not my favorite place, and I wouldn't recommend it either.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ 小炒黄牛肉拌粉 -- Flavor was decent. The beef was heavily spiced with cumin, which I like. Not really a fan of the texture of the rice noodles, and I didn't enjoy the other components of the dish (celery, peppers, etc). I made the unfortunate mistake of ordering "spicy", which was way to spicy - remember to calibrate your settings to Hunan spiciness.
  • ★☆☆☆ 干煸四季豆 -- The flavor was okay, but the string beans themselves were really mushy, almost like they were boiled or blanched instead of stir-fried.
