Shinshi Ramen is a small ramen shop located in Midtown east. While this place has received very positive reviews, I was rather disappointed by the ramen. It didn't stand out to me at all. To be fair though, I think I probably ordered the wrong item on the menu - there were a lot of interesting options yet I went for the Shoyu Ramen. I think that there are better options out there, but my experience is likely not representative.
> Interestingly, the appetizers are much better than the ramen. This is probably one of the few places I would claim this.
> Affordable - last time I went, no item on their menu is over $13.50
> They have a really strange reservation system. Instead of choosing from a set of available times, you actually submit a reservation request, and they respond via email a day or two later telling you whether you got the reservation.
> I may have ordered the wrong item on the menu, but I found the ramen to be quite bland, and the noodles did not have the best texture either. To be fair though, Google Maps suggests that they specialize in traditional tonkotsu miso ramen, and I ordered the shoyu ramen.
