General Notes

Scoma's is a pretty well known seafood restaurant in the heart of Sausalito, right by the water. It backs up that fame with solid food and excellent views of the bay (although only some of the seats actually have the ideal view). Their menu is pretty much what you'd expect from a typical seafood restaurant, except with more emphasis on cooked dishes and less on raw dishes. A great choice if you find yourself adventuring around in Sausalito (especially on warmer days when you can thoroughly enjoy outdoor seating!)

Dishes Tasted

  • ★☆☆☆ Lobster Risotto -- Canadian lobster, shallots, garlic, spinach, tomato, crimini mushroom, shrimp stock, tarragon butter. Sounded better on paper, it was cooked pretty well but the flavor combination was a little strange.
  • ★★★☆ Dungeness Crab Cake -- pretty solid crab cake; soft + flavorful on the inside, nice crisp on the outside.
  • ★★★☆ Coconut Curry Mussels -- Mediterranean mussels steamed in coconut milk with garlic thai curry. Mussels are cooked well, nice flavor, coconut curry is great with the bread too.
  • ★★★★ Calamari Fritte -- fried squid with fresh lemon and oregano, tartar sauce. Fried really well - the squid was actually remarkably tender, which is not something I see often with calamari. Great seasoning, nice crisp, batter isn't too thick
