General Notes

SanDai is an Indonesian brunch / coffee shop place in Walnut Creek. A friend recommended this place after I visited Kopiku in SF and really enjoyed it. I came here for a friend's birthday celebration. Unfortunately at the time I was still recovering from the stomach flu and couldn't really stomach much; otherwise I definitely would have loved to try some of their other dishes, like nasi lemak / seafood mee goreng. The food that I ordered was pretty uninspiring, but that's moreso a function of what I ordered. Would love to try some of their other offerings.

Positives

> They're pretty accommodating for large parties! We were able to seat a party of ~15 for a birthday celebration.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Balinese Black Rice Porrige with Seasonal Fruits -- toasted coconut, seasonal fruits, mixed berry compote. Okay, not particularly noteworthy. It's a little too acidic with not much to balance out.
  • ★☆☆☆ Pandan Liege Waffle -- coconut whipped cream, coconut syrup. Good flavor combination, but man the waffle was really awful. It was dry and crumbly
  • ★★☆☆ Pandan Croissant -- okay, you can't really taste the pandan. The coconut filling in the middle of the croissant was a nice touch though
