General Notes

An amazing Italian restaurant in Greenwich Village. I came here with a group of friends who actually live in Greenwich Village and recommended this place. Compared to other similar restaurants, Rosemary's is actually quite reasonably priced, but it does not sacrifice on quality - everything from the food to the environment were amazing. I would highly recommend giving this place a try!

Positives

> The food is excellent. There was no particular dish with which I had a negative experience. The focaccia in particular is amazing and one of their specialties - I would recommend getting one or two and sharing it as an appetizer!
> The restaurant is open-air (at least in summer). This was one major reason why I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I did not go up there, but they also have a rooftop bar. The interior is also fairly spacious and you never really feel like you're cramped.
> I tried their Gavi di Gavi white wine (Villa Sparina 2017, Piemonte), $52 per bottle. I don't really know much about wine, but it tasted really good! As you might be able to infer, they do not card.

Negatives

> In the beginning, our server kind of disappeared on us. We ordered a few appetizers (mozzarella & burrata, octopus salame), and they came within 5 minutes, but our server didn't come back to take the rest of our orders for a very long time (upwards of 10-15 minutes).
> Like most restaurants in Greenwich Village, it can get very busy, particularly during the weekends. It can also be quite loud.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★★☆ Rigatoni -- Served with housemade sausage, broccoli rabe, fresno chili, and parmigiano. I've never really had pasta with these flavors, but they melded together quite well. The pasta is actually made in-house and is cooked perfectly.
  • ★★★★ Rosemary Focaccia -- Rosemary, maldon sea salt. Warm, fluffy, and buttery - the texture is incredible. The rosemary flavor shines through, and the maldon sea salt adds a nice flavor and textural component.
  • ★★★☆ Fig & Prosciutto Focaccia -- Fig and rosemary jam, prosciutto, arugula, balsamic. Just like the rosemary focaccia, has an incredible texture (warm, fluffy, and buttery). It was a bit too sweet and didn't have enough prosciutto for my taste. Otherwise, a great choice though.
  • ★★★☆ Octopus Salame -- Served with basil and Sicilian giardiniere. The octopus is really thinly sliced and actually arranged to look like two salami slices. The octopus has a nice texture, and the accompaniments add a great flavor.
  • ★★★☆ Mozzarella & Burrata -- Served with basil and maldon sea salt. The mozzarella and burrata complemented each other quite well. The basil gives it a nice touch. I personally don't really enjoy eating straight mozzarella that much, but this was quite good.
