General Notes

Restaurant in Millbrae that specializes in Teochew cuisine (潮州), a region in Guangdong. I have fairly little experience with food from this area but the food was honestly just not very good. Supposedly there are a lot of reviews on xhs praising this restaurant, particularly about how "authentic" the food is, but I don't see the hype. They also have a location in south bay.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★☆☆☆ pan fried oyster pancake -- The oyster tastes a little weird, it's fried well but the chewy batter part is a little weird and a little bit too thick in my opinion
  • ★★☆☆ tofu with special bean sauce -- soft tofu that's seared and served with a bean sauce in a clay pot. I'm impressed that they're able to serve the tofu without any structural damage despite how soft it is. The bean sauce tastes a little odd, but overall the dish is solid.
  • ★☆☆☆ 蒜子炒菜心 -- cooked decently well but pretty heavily underseasoned -- I wouldn't mind if I were cooking for myself at home but I do care when I'm eating out at a restaurant
  • ★☆☆☆ braised goose -- I don't know the Chinese character for it, but it's "lu". Served with a tart garlic sauce. The sauce itself is excellent, the goose itself is way overcooked and quite dry.
