General Notes

A solid upscale Italian restaurant serving up classic dishes. The food is decent, though not amazing. The atmosphere and vibes are definitely one of Poggio's selling points: there's plenty of outdoor seating and there's a definitive charm of Sausalito that you can experience here.

Positives

> The menu is reasonably concise, while covering all the bases and including most of the relevant Italian classics.
> The food embodies simple and rustic but elevated. You won't find anything surprising on the menu but most of the dishes are executed reasonably well.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Carciofo -- Grilled artichoke, pesto aioli, salmoriglio, preserved lemon, fines herbs. The overall combination makes a lot of sense (I especially loved the preserved lemon), but somewhat lacked in execution. The pesto aioli was really bland and needed much more seasoning and acidity. That was the key component that was missing; all the other components were solid.
  • ★★★☆ Gnudi -- Spinach ricotta pillows, beef ragu, parmigiano reggiano. The gnocchi was a bit too soft for my taste, but the overall flavor of the dish was excellent.
