General Notes

Piglet & Co is a restaurant not quite like any other. It's kind of like a fusion of Asian cuisines with a hint of New American thrown in, with some influences from Taiwanese night markets. They do tend to have quite a lot of pork dishes, fitting their name. A relatively new restaurant that opened recently and the food was really interesting. From what I can tell on yelp, it seems like they change their menu fairly regularly. Definitely a little bit on the pricier side, but overall a good experience and one worth trying, in my opinion.

Positives

> Try their sauces! Most of their dishes really don't need any sauce. But it could be great to order just a bowl of rice with a chili sauce. We got the sambal sauce and it was delicious.
> They market themselves as small plates, but their dishes are actually surprisingly large. They recommend 2-3 plates per person, unless you're like me definitely don't get 3 plates per person.

Negatives

> The pork furikake is pretty mediocre, wouldn't recommend that one.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Coconut Tapioca -- pretty yummy, the purple sweet potato mochi weren't great, but the rest of the components with the tapioca, coconut milk, strawberry, and rhubarb jam went well.
  • ★☆☆☆ Dou Hua -- Not my favorite dessert, not a big fan of the tofu-esque flavor. But your mileage may vary
  • ★★★★ Mala BBQ Pork Ribs -- mala miso glaze, koji mayo, red onion pickle, bubu arare. Amazing flavor, super tender + juicy, and there are a few little crispy bits at top for a perfect textural contrast.
  • ★★★☆ Charred Savoy Cabbage -- lard confit, kalo, chimichurri, nori. Delicious, amazing char, nice flavor.
  • ★★★☆ Honey Walnut Shrimp & Pork Toast -- panko breaded pork shrimp hash, burnt honey aioli, candied walnut relish. Their flagship dish and for good reason, this was delicious.
  • ★★★☆ Kalua Pig Donburi -- pork belly, macaroni salad, rice, fried egg. The pork belly was incredible -- so soft, tender, and juicy, but also a little crispy on the outside. The other components were a bit random, nothing particularly noteworthy.
  • ★★★☆ Little Gem Salad -- Served with radish cake, some kind of sesame dressing, green beans, asparagus. Very yummy.
  • ★★☆☆ Pickle Party -- kimchi, wood ear mushroom, daikon, cucumber. The wood ear mushrooms were quite good, the rest were ok.
