General Notes

Excellent Italian restaurant in that area I like to call "the place with a lot of fancy restaurants". It's under the same umbrella as Flour and Water. Flour and Water has a michelin star, but surprisingly I actually enjoyed the food here a bit more. The pastas in particular were more standout, much more flavorful. The desserts were kinda meh, but everything else was excellent; I'd definitely come back for a special occasion.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Foccacia -- It was okay, but not particularly noteworthy. Other places definitely have better foccacia
  • ★★☆☆ pear / prosecco sorbetto
  • ★★☆☆ strawberry gelato -- pretty good, but plated in a very strange way
  • ★☆☆☆ Panna Cotta -- decent, but the flavor was really tart and kind of strange
  • ★★★☆ Crispy Brussel Sprouts -- caramelized onion, anchovy, parmigiano. Cooked perfectly, nice flavor. It's definitely on the more tart side, as a warning.
  • ★★★★ Smoked Mushrooms -- delicata squash, sunflower crumble, nepitella. Sleeper hit; this tasted incredible.
  • ★☆☆☆ Arugula & Mustard Greens -- cannonau wine vinaigrette, parmigiano. Way too sour, would be pretty good if it were a little less strong.
  • ★★★☆ Agnolotti dal Plin -- beef, pork, sugo d'arrosto, parmigiano reggiano
  • ★★☆☆ Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe -- black pepper, pecorino romano. I found the pasta to be just a touch undercooked, but overall the flavor is excellent.
  • ★★★★ Gnocchi alla Norma -- eggplant, early girl tomato, garlic, basil, ricotta salata. This might be the first time I've actually had gnocchi with the perfectly right slightly al-dente (but still fluffy) texture. Sauce itself is solid too.
  • ★★★★ Cappelletti di Zucchini -- ricotta, meyer lemon, squash blossom, mint. Perfectly al-dente, lovely flavor, especially in the sauce. The squash blossom is kind of random and unnecessary though
  • ★★★☆ Prosciutto San Daniele -- melon, calabrian chili, mint. This prosciutto tasted incredible, flavor was not too overwhelming but it was intensely savory.
  • ★★☆☆ Heirloom Tomato Caprese -- jersey cow mozzarella, basil, aceto balsamico. The tomato and balsamic are excellent, but the mozzarella was really ... firm. Not exactly my favorite type of mozzarella.
  • ★★★☆ Green Bean & Basil Arancini -- garlic aioli, parmigiano reggiano
