General Notes

Salvadoran restaurant in the heart of the Mission, serving up pupusas and everything else you'd expect from a Salvadoran restaurant. The food is meh, but I can't help but compare it to Platano in Berkeley, which I had a much better experience at. I got the combo #3, which came with a pupusa, plantain empanada, yuca fries, and tamale -- an interesting combination of items that was just what I was looking for. Not the best experience, but at least it's very reasonably priced.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Pickled Coleslaw (curtido) -- It's alright, nothing super noteworthy.
  • ★☆☆☆ Plantain Empanada -- This would honestly be delicious just with the plantain but the filling is so strange. It has a texture similar to firmed up frosting, and a similar taste too. It's a bit excessive, to be honest.
  • ★☆☆☆ Chicken Tamale -- The tamale has an odd jello-like consistency. It has OLIVES in the filling, which is so strange.
  • ★★☆☆ Yuca Fries -- These are pretty good; solid texture
  • ★☆☆☆ Pork Pupusa -- the proportions in this feel off -- not enough pork, way too much cheese, and the cheese is kinda meh.
