General Notes
ONE65 Patisserie is exactly what you'd expect when you think of a luxury French patisserie. They have a large selection of pastries and desserts. The decor is sleek, modern and the counter full of pastries is one of the most aesthetic displays I've ever seen. The main downside here is that everything is very expensive. For any specific item you can probably get a better quality, cheaper item at b patisserie, Arsicault, or Les Gourmands. That being said, it might still be worth giving this place a try -- your eyes will thank you when they see the dessert counter.
Dishes Tasted
- ★★☆☆ Mignardises -- a collection of 5 tiny chocolates / desserts. They're gorgeous, and it's nice to be able to try so many different items. Definitely on the pricier side at $10, so I would never buy it for myself but it could be great if your partner enjoys cute, tiny items
- ★★★★ Kouign-Amann -- Kouign-Amann is one of my favorite pastries of all time. Perfect balance between intensely buttery (but not greasy), crispy exterior, and good level of sweetness.
- ★☆☆☆ Tart Tatin -- Looks stunning, but doesn't taste quite as good as it looks. The almond flavor of the tart and cream were really nice, but a bit flat when paired together. The "apples" were a bit too tannic and didn't have enough acidity or caramelized notes. There was also a lack of textural contrast, although each component would probably be great in a different dessert. Overpriced at $9.50
- ★★★☆ Canele -- Another one of my favorite pastries; also very good. Interestingly, I found the exterior to be ever so slightly too crispy for my taste.
