General Notes

Olio e Piu is a fairly traditional Italian restaurant in Greenwich Village. It has a pretty upscale trattoria vibe, with plenty of sidewalk seating and an open-window environment. I was really excited to try this place for the first time, but I found myself somewhat disappointed. As a whole, the food was a bit bland and had some execution flaws. I think there are better options out there for good Italian food (like Rosemary, literally a block away).

Positives

> This is a very minor point, but I love that the bread comes with an artichoke heart. As you might know, I love artichoke hearts.

Negatives

> As a whole, the food here is somewhat bland and could be executed a bit better well. Even the olive oil reflects this - it doesn't have much flavor. Perhaps I ordered the wrong items, though I ordered a pasta off of their "specials".

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Sweet Coppa, Prosciutto di Parma, Burrata -- The burrata was really good. The prosciutto and sweet coppa were decent, but not particularly noteworthy.
  • ★☆☆☆ Tortelli Aragosta -- The pasta was a bit overcooked, and the dish as a whole was bland. The sauce was watery and didn't have much flavor. The scallops at the top were not appetizing. The shrimp and lobster filling was decent though.
