General Notes

Restaurant specializing in Japanese breakfast: roasted fish, rice, miso soup, and various sides. It was amazing, would definitely return again in the future. Each component does not seem particularly noteworthy, but they're all executed to perfection. Two locations -- one in Brooklyn (which is tiny and quickly runs out of space + has long lines, supposedly), and one in Manhattan, which is a bit more spacious. I went to the Manhattan location. Excellent service, great vibes, delicious food that's not too heavy and leaves me feeling good for the rest of the day.

I really wanted to try their fish collar but they ran out -- apparently they have limited availability of this and run out quite quickly in the morning.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Hojicha Panna Cotta -- the flavor is good, it's a little less set than I would have liked, needs a touch more gelatin.
  • ★★★★ Yakizakana set -- roasted fish (I chose black cod, it was miso marinaded), rice, miso soup, + 5 sides. Everything was so remarkably good despite seeming not particularly noteworthy. The fish was so juicy + flavorful, the miso soup was intensely flavorful, and even the rice had a uniquely amazing texture. The sides were delicious too. I also added an ajitama, which was so good (it had some vinegar, which added a nice touch)
