General Notes

Decent restaurant for Chinese noodles in the heart of southside. Very substantial portions for a very reasonable price point. Expect to see a whole bunch of college students. They get very busy during peak hours, and the seating can be pretty cramped. As a party of one, they actually sat me with another party of one at a table for 2, which led to a very unexpected but delightful dinner conversation. I'd definitely be down to return to try some of their other offerings; I might choose the non-spicy option and add chili oil myself though, as the excessive amount of oil and dried chilis floating around in the soup made it very difficult to consume.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Beef Rib Noodle Soup (spicy) -- house speical beef rib (bone in) noodle soup in 24-hour cooked broth. The beef rib was delicious: tender (it literally fell off the bone) and flavorful. The rest of the dish was meh. Noodles were alright (I got the thick noodles, they were not very thick). The broth had a nice flavor but had way too many chilis floating around and too much oil.
  • ★★☆☆ Smashed Cucumbers -- Good flavor and appropriate level of spice. Texture on the cucumber is a little soft but passable. The raw red onions and carrots were a little out of place; I just picked them away.
