General Notes

Interesting Chinese restaurant specializing in dishes from Northeastern China. Their flagship dish is their iron pot stew, which basically a bunch of stuff stewed together. They have a bunch of other dishes as well. Their iron pot stew is decent but not particularly noteworthy. There were a few components which were odd, including 1/ how spicy it was and 2/ the usage of rice noodles instead of wide vermicelli noodles. Things feel a little bit off from what you'd typically see from Northeastern China and you can definitely tell from their accent that the owners aren't actually from Northeastern China. One really nice part is their cold dishes, which are delicious and you can get unlimited cold dishes for a small fee with any iron pot stew.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★★☆ 疙瘩汤 -- not sure if this is the right chinese but this soup was pretty yummy, would get again.
  • ★★☆☆ shenyang returns -- I forget what this is in Chinese but it's basically a deep-fried dumpling with beef filling. It's decent, although not particularly noteworthy
  • ★☆☆☆ shenyang laobian baozi -- these tasted really odd, they were filled with shrimp, egg, and pork
  • ★★★☆ pickled napa cabbage with glass noodles -- and some pork, this was pretty good
  • ★★☆☆ Iron Pot Stewed Goose -- goose, pork ribs, rice noodles, cabbaged, braised meatballs, potatoes, eel. This is massive and definitely enough for around ~5 people. Also comes with a bunch of cornbread. You can optionally add more stuff if you'd like.
