General Notes
Solid Cantonese restaurant in Millbrae. All the waitstaff spoke Cantonese to me, which was pretty interesting.
Dishes Tasted
- ★☆☆☆ Jellyfish with Seaweed -- it's okay but the flavor and texture both leave a little bit to be desired.
- ★★★★ Roast Squab -- crispy skin, super tender / juicy meat. Perfectly seasoned. Squab feels like it's really easy to overcook, but this was absolutely delicious; I am pleasantly surprised.
- ★★☆☆ Golden Fried Rice with Black Truffle -- decent fried rice, you can definitely taste the truffle flavor, not a huge fan of all the mushrooms though
- ★★★☆ Watercress with Fish Paste -- watercress blanched in fish broth, served with fish paste, goji berries, and some other miscellaneous things. This method of cooking is called 上汤; I was skeptical at first but it's very good! The broth is delicious, super flavorful. The fish paste has a little bit of tangerine peel flavor, which is interesting. Watercress is cooked well.
- ★★★☆ Chicken Feet -- this was prepared surprisingly well -- perhaps from the way it was fried, the texture was excellent and bubbly
