General Notes

A lovely upscale "New Austrian" restaurant. I'm still not entirely sure what "New Austrian" entails, but I was very happy with the food. Most of the items were relatively hearty, but not as heavy as you'd expect -- they had just the right amount of freshness or acidity to balance out the rest of the dish. Dishes were execute to perfection, the service was great, and the vibes of the restaurant are lovely. A bit on the pricey side, but great for a special occasion!

Positives

> The vibes of the restaurant are fantastic. The interior is beautiful -- modern, sleek, and luxurious. The service is also great.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★☆☆☆ Schoko Kuchen -- liquid center Valrhona chocolate cake, strawberries, almonds, and wild strawberry sorbet. I feel like ... there must have been a mistake because there definitely wasn't a wild strawberry sorbet, and the cake itself was a bit dry and not like a lava cake at all.
  • ★★★☆ Double-Cooked Pork Belly -- marinaded cabbage salad, daikon, herbs, lime-soy vinaigrette, braised cherries and pumpkin seeds. the pork belly was juicy, tender, and flavorful. The top was well-browned and lightly crispy. It had a bit more fat than I would have liked, but overall an excellent dish.
  • ★★★★ Spatzle with Smoked Chicken -- corn, peas, tarragon, mushrooms. I LOVE the herbacious flavor from the tarragon, goes wonderfully with the other components. And the mushrooms ar delightful too!
  • ★★★☆ Sausage Trio -- smoked pork bratwurst, spicy paprika wurst and sausage of the day, served with red cabbage, sauerkraut caramelized onions, Dijon mustard & potato salad
  • ★★★☆ Kraut Rouladen -- beef, pork, and smoked bacon filled Savoy cabbage with creamed leeks, fingerlings, carrots, greens, mushroom demiglace. The mushroom demiglace really does wonders in bringing this dish together.
  • ★★★☆ Homemade Pretzel -- with double-smoked bacon, beer-cheese sauce, chives. Lovely texture, and the sauce has a lovely flavor. There's way more sauce than you'll need, and we ended up dipping the complimentary bread in there because it was so good. The beer adds a nice touch to the sauce.
