General Notes

Momofuku Noodle Bar is an interesting restaurant that serves up some unique Asian-inspired dishes. The flavor combinations are not quite like anything else that I've tasted, and based off of what I tried, they work beautifully. This place doesn't really have a specific cuisine, though their specialties are definitely the buns and the noodle dishes. Based on Yelp reviews, a lot of people will probably tell you this place is overrated, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend Momofuku Noodle Bar in a heartbeat. I'm excited to try the other Momofuku restaurants owned by David Chang to see what they have to offer.

Positives

> The star of this restaurant is definitely the unique flavor combinations. The sausage bun is not quite like anything I've tasted before, and the smoked pork ramen is excellent.

Negatives

> Compared to other restaurants which serve similar types of food, Momofuku Noodle bar is certainly on the pricier side. I think it is definitely worth it though.
> The Momofuku restaurants are really well known, and so they are correspondingly popular. Expect to wait during peak times, even on random weekdays.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★★☆ Smoked Pork Ramen -- Pork belly, egg yolk, bamboo. Delicious - the smoky flavor permeates the entire dish. The pork is tender, savory, and super flavorful. I was skeptical about barley noodles at first, but they have an excellent texture. The egg yolk adds a welcome creaminess. The broth complements everything perfectly - well-seasoned but with a flavor that allows the smokiness to shine through.
  • ★★★☆ Sausage Buns -- Smoked aioli, pickled red onion. The flavor of this dish is incredible - smoky, savory, and with a nice acidity that balances everything out, from the aioli and red onions. Texture of the sausage is spot on. The only thing I would like differently is the bun, which doesn't quite have the best texture - it's a bit too soft and soaked up some moisture.
