General Notes

Misoya is a tiny ramen shop in East Village that specializes in miso-based broths. In fact, they offer three types of miso broth. According to the menu, Kome miso is the typical Japanese miso, with a full bodied taste. Shiro miso is common in Kyoto, with a fruity and natural taste. Mame miso is common in Nagoya, with a slightly bitter finish. The ramen is generally pretty good. I am certainly biased against this place since I am not the biggest fan of miso. This place is also fairly affordable - big portions for a reasonable price. I would recommend if you're looking for a reasonably priced, filling, and delicious meal.

Positives

> The food is decent, probably more so if you enjoy miso-based broths a lot.
> Very reasonable prices! You can get a pretty large bowl of ramen for anywhere around $10-15.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Shiro Miso Chashu Ramen -- Served with miso chashu pork, ground pork, bean sprouts, cabbage, green onion, and fried tofu menma. A good option, definitely on the high side of 2, straddling a 3. I'm personally not the biggest miso fan, but the broth was pretty good. The pork was also good. The rest of the toppings were a bit odd (egg was a bit overcooked), particularly the fried tofu menma, which I think was actually cooked well, I just don't like tofu very much. The texture of the noodles was decent, but something felt off
