General Notes

It's been a while since I've been to a restaurant this bougie, it was a wonderful experience. It is very expensive, and ultimately you're paying for that ambiance, service, and refinement of experience. The food is great, and some dishes are definitely more worthwhile than others. I'd definitely get the steak tartare and the caesar salad, I'd be curious to try the burger next time (since it's so much cheaper than the other dishes and I've heard good things about it, lol). The black truffle fries also looked pretty good when I saw someone else order it. The sides are actually surprisingly larger than I expected. It is pretty much everything that you'd expect from a high-end steakhouse. Not a place that I'd choose over others often, but there's a time and place for everything.

Positives

> I really like their table arrangements. They have rounded booth style seating for everyone! I came as a party of two and got seated on a booth that could easily fit 4 people, which was really nice. The seats themselves sunk in a little too much for my taste and weren't that comfortable, though.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★★★ Strawberry Sorbet -- one of the best sorbets I've had in a while. The strawberry flavor is quite strong. The "small" is actually quite a bit bigger than I'd expect
  • ★★★☆ Crispy Brussel Sprouts -- shallot xo, brussel sprout butter, shallot
  • ★★★★ Potato Puree -- super creamy and perfectly seasoned
  • ★★★☆ French Dover Sole -- capers, meyer lemon, brown butter, finished tableside. First time having French dover sole, the fish itself is not particularly interesting, the sauce is pretty delicious though. Would make myself with a different (cheaper) whitefish in the future.
  • ★★☆☆ 20oz New York Strip -- It's decent, not particularly noteworthy. We got the red wine bordelaise sauce, which for me was a bit too tannic. The steak had some silver skin and the knives were not that strong, made it hard to cut. Surprisingly, one of my least favorite parts of the meal.
  • ★★★★ Steak Tartare -- dry aged beef, miso mayo, quail egg, crispy potato puff. Probably my favorite dish of the night, this was SO GOOD. The beef is super tender, and the flavor is excellent too.
  • ★★★☆ Caesar Salad -- prepared tableside, lettuce, meyer lemon breadcrumb, spanish anchovies. It's pretty delicious, love the complexity of flavor.
  • ★★☆☆ popover -- they brought us this complimentary popover with butter, the popover was pretty good, very eggy flavor. A bit hard to spread butter on though
  • ★★★☆ amuse bouche -- not an actual dish, but they brought us this small bite which was like a crispy tart with some kind of cheese + onion flavor, it was delicious!
