General Notes

Milkbomb Ice Cream has some pretty delicious offerings. I saw this place on a map right by a friend's apartment, and I've been eyeing it for a while. After a couple of attempts to go here ... I finally managed to give it a try. I think I was a little disappointed in relation to the reviews, but overall it was a very solid experience. Delicious ice cream, nice quaint neighborhood. They're probably most famous for their donut ice cream sandwiches (which are pretty instagram-able). Though honestly, the donut doesn't add that much to the dish imo, and I think next time I'd prefer a waffle cone or just a cup. They also have another location in Berkeley.

Positives

> They have a lot of delicious + unique flavors, with a lot of Asian influences. I got a cinnamon donut with ube and calamansi sorbet; the ube was great, the calamansi sorbet had a wonderful flavor but didn't stand up a well texture-wise.
> Their marshmallow fluff is incredible. I LOVE marshmallow fluff on my desserts, and they'll blowtorch the top for you.

Negatives

> Their hours and EXTREMELY janky. The hours posted on Yelp are probably the most accurate, but even those are constantly shifting around. I visited this place twice -- the first time I came Wednesday afternoon and they were randomly just closed (I checked in the morning and it said "open", but once I got there it got updated to "closed" on Wednesdays). The next time I came here on a Friday afternoon with some friends. Two of us checked on Yelp and found that they open on Fridays at 3pm and 3:30pm respectively (not sure where the discrepancy came from) ... then when we arrived there at 4:30pm we found that they don't actually open until 5pm. They also close fairly early for an ice cream place, usually around 8pm or 9pm. All in all ... very inconsistent and actually eating here can be pretty tricky.
> The plaza where the shop is can be pretty shady + windy. It's nice when it's extremely hot, but in most cases you'll have typical SF semi-chilly to warm weather and it can be a little uncomfortably cold. Thankfully, there's a park very nearby where you can enjoy your ice cream in the sun.
