General Notes

Super well known, and overall really solid ramen restaurant. I'm not sure that this place deserves quite the level or hype and praise that it receives, but it's definitely worth a visit. Plan to come significantly earlier than when you'd like to eat, put yourself on the waitlist, and explore around Japantown -- wait times can get pretty long.

Negatives

> Be prepared for a long wait. This place is VERY popular. I came here on a Monday evening by myself and waited 30 minutes; the wait gets much longer on the weekends.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★★☆ Hakata Tonkotsu DX -- Hakata style ramen with rich pork broth. chashu, soft boiled egg, green onions, kikurage mushrooms, buta kakuni, corn, nori seaweed. The toppings are REALLY good, the noodles are not my favorite (definitely prefer chewier, thicker noodles), but the fact that they were slightly undercooked at the start worked out really well -- it cooked a bit more and was perfect for most of the meal. The broth is solid but not particularly noteworthy.
  • ★★★☆ Mentaiko Bowl -- spicy seasoned cod roe, rice, green onion, sesame seed, kaiware sprout, nori seaweed. The raw components can be slightly overpowering at times, but overall the combination is super delicious!
