General Notes

As the name suggests, Marcella's Lasagneria is an Italian restaurant in the Dogpatch that specializes in lasagna. I'm a huge fan of lasagna and their food did not disappoint. The lasagna is creamy and indulgent without being overly heavy. It has a ton of layers and has great structural integrity. I've only been here once and came for the lasagna, but they also have quite a few tasty-looking offerings. I will definitely be returning to try some of their other lasagnas and pastas.

Positives

> The service is really, really friendly. Super lovely servers / owners!

Negatives

> The hours are a little wonky -- they're essentially only open weekends at lunch. Which is a shame, because lasagna is a pretty indulgent meal and definitely something that I'd prefer to eat for dinner if possible. It can also get pretty busy during peak hours; luckily I came on the earlier side and didn't have to wait but there were definitely lots of people.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Tiramisu -- A good, solid tiramisu, though not quite as good as the server claimed. Would have liked the cream to be a bit lighter, but otherwise everything is great.
  • ★★★★ Abruzzo Lasagna -- Our house made spicy Italian sausage in a light, zesty tomato sauce. This was incredible; I love the flavor the sausage brings.
  • ★★★☆ Wild Mushroom Lasagna -- crimini and portobello mushrooms with garlic and fresh herbs in a rich red wine and tomato sauce. The mushroom flavor is pretty subtle; it tastes like a typical vegetarian lasagna. But an incredibly good vegetarian lasagna.
