General Notes
Lotus of Siam is one of the more well-known Thai restaurants in the Las Vegas area. It's hyped up quite a bit and for good reason -- the food is really, really good. Pretty much all of the dishes were executed well. I came here with a large group of 9 people and we shared a bunch of dishes family-style; I got to try a ton of different dishes, and honestly I don't really even remember what exactly we ordered. But it was definitely really good and well worth the visit.
Negatives
> This restaurant can get VERY busy. Even on a Thursday night at 9:30pm, we saw people who were waiting for a spot. Try to get a reservation if you can.
Dishes Tasted
- ★★★☆ Yellow Curry -- with chicken; solid all around curry!
- ★★★★ Crispy Duck Curry -- this dish was incredible -- the duck was indeed crispy; it was also flavorful and tender. The curry itself tastes amazing and was a wonderful complement.
- ★★★☆ Tofu Thai Fried Rice -- surprisingly good, flavorful, the other components are cooked well, and the tofu is actually really good.
- ★★☆☆ Pad Thai -- solid pad thai, not particularly noteworthy. Again, not my favorite dish in general so I'm a little biased.
- ★☆☆☆ Tom Yum Prawn -- hot and sour soup with large fresh water prawns, lime juice, and lemongrass. Not my favorite dish -- I don't really like tom yum in general, and the soup is just really sour.
- ★★☆☆ Chicken Satay -- meat marinaded with homemade fresh herbs and spices, grilled on skewers, served with peanut sauce and cucumber salad. Executed well and relatively tender, though I'm not a huge fan of this dish in general so I'm a bit biased.
