General Notes

A delightful soul food restaurant specializing in chicken + waffles, located in a somewhat obscure alleyway in SoMa / Mission Bay. The menu is simple and the food is solid. There's plenty of comfortable outdoor seating in the parklet right outside the restaurant. It's great to see restaurants like this one in San Francisco which break the mold of a typical "SF restuarant" a bit.

Dishes Tasted
  • ★★★☆ Jalapeno cornmuffin -- Delightful; crispy exterior, soft buttery interior.
  • ★☆☆☆ Jalapeno Kaleslaw -- This isn't really coleslaw; it's essentially pickled. It's a bit too strong and has too much of an accrid aftertaste.
  • ★★★☆ Waffles -- Has a lovely crispy exterior and a fluffy interior; I would actually prefer the interior to be slightly thicker. The waffle itself doesn't have much flavor but the syrup is quite nice.
  • ★★★☆ Fried chicken -- Fried chicken is VERY juicy and has a nice flavor. It's fried well but leans a little bit "hard" as opposed to crispy
