General Notes
Interesting new restaurant that opened in Stonestown recently. They do have another location in the Richmond. The menu is pretty interesting, it's like a fusion of Vietnamese and Chinese dishes, with cool influences from both. The vibes are also really nice, I really like the interior. Overall, food was good, although some of the dishes were a bit hit or miss.
Dishes Tasted
- ★★★☆ lap mei rice -- pork jowl, lap cheong, veg, onsen egg. The pork jowl is INCREDIBLE. It's so juicy and tender, with incredible flavors.
- ★★☆☆ hai san spinach -- shrimp, calamari, egg drop gravy. Interesting texture + flavor, it's nice and light, definitely gives southern Chinese dish vibes.
- ★★☆☆ caramelized branzino -- banh hoi, ginger caramel, herb salad. It's cool that they were able to debone it while keeping the whole fish intact. The overall construction of the dish is great, but the fish is just overcooked.
- ★☆☆☆ quail -- flambee au rum, lemon pepper. The sauce is nice and the caramelization is great, but it just doesn't have much substance, there's barely any meat and it's a little tough to eat.
- ★★☆☆ new caledonian blue prawn aguachile -- nam jim jaew, cilantro. Cool texture, kind of expensive though. It's a little spicy, be warned.
