General Notes
Upscale Laotian restaurant, which is close enough to Thai that I'm categorizing it the same. Surprisingly excellent food in a nice upscale atmosphere (I was expecting worse, given the google reviews).
Dishes Tasted
- ★★☆☆ mark mango (mango & sticky rice) -- great quality mango but could use a little more coconut sauce.
- ★★☆☆ anchovy sundae -- sweet brioche roll, coconut ice cream, brown sugar caramel topped with crispy anchovy garnish. Everything else about the dish is amazing, but the anchovy is really .. unnecessary. Literally any other crispy topping like crispy rice would have been better.
- ★★★☆ "nam khao" crispy rice salad -- spicy crispy sticky rice, green herbs, fermented pork sausage, ginger, red onions, peanut. Delicious!
- ★★★☆ "khaw kai" noodles -- wok fried thick rice noodles, fresh chicken, peanut, bean sprouts, lettuce, caramel soy sauce, house sriracha sauce. Delicious, the noodles are great, honestly the green onion adds a huge touch.
- ★★★☆ "suae hong hai" crying tiger steak -- "snake river farms" kobe-style beef (8oz) grilled to perfection, tamarind-chili dip, soft herbs and sticky rice. A touch overcooked for my taste and honestly delicious but a little overpriced.
- ★★★☆ sea bass clay pot -- chilean sea bass (8oz) steamed in red coconut curry, lychee, cherry tomatoes, dill, Thai basil, jasmine rice. Super tender / juicy, curry is good too.
- ★★★☆ "gai tod" fried chicken -- laotian-style fried chicken thigh, crispy garlic turmeric, sticky rice, and traditional "JAEW" smoked chili dip. This is delicious, very substantial portion too
- ★★★☆ moo nam pla -- fried pork belly tossed with fish sauce caramel, chili-lime dip. This is delicious, fried well
- ★★☆☆ Lao Sausage -- laotian style pork sausage served with fresh ginger, toasted peanut, bird's eye chili
