General Notes
Greek restaurant in the Lower East Side. Overall, decent food at reasonable price points. I would describe the vibe of this restaurant as the restaurant equivalent of a NY comedy club. A decidedly casual neighborhood spot. Take my review with a grain of salt as I sat down around 11:15pm; normal service is likely slightly different.
Dishes Tasted
- ★★☆☆ Horiatiki Salad -- chunky tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, bell peppers, Kalamata olives, and feta. Pretty much your quintessential Greek salad. Pretty good overall; I especially enjoyed the feta. It was just the right amount of saltiness / acidic. The ingredients themselves didn't seem ... quite as fresh maybe? I didn't get the same degree of refreshing satisfaction that I typically do with a Greek salad. The uneven sizes of the different components also made it a bit difficult to eat.
- ★★★☆ Grilled Octopus -- As the menu suggests, delectable and uncomplicated. Well seasoned and well cooked; I would have liked a bit more sear for some textural contrast but definitely happy with this dish
- ★☆☆☆ Taramosalata -- salty and rich fish roe spread. Honestly the spread itself is quite good; I enjoyed the flavor a lot. But the pita and bread were ... very stale. Maybe this has something to do with the fact that I came here at 11:15pm
