General Notes
Kantine is a delightful Scandinavian brunch restaurant. The food is not particularly awe-inspiring, but the food is very solid and comforting. They offer an assortment of pastries alongside Scandinavian classics like herring and rye bread. Nice environment and comfortable outdoor seating on a nice day.
Dishes Tasted
- ★☆☆☆ Lavender Latte -- Not bad, but it doesn't really have much flavor. The lavender flavor is very subtle.
- ★★★☆ Curried Herring -- Delightful, great add-on to your meal at only $4. Flavor is wonderful (if anything, perhaps a little too strong) and the texture of the herring is great.
- ★★★☆ Hot Smoked Trout Bowl -- trout, potatoes, pickles, radish, pickled onion, tartar sauce. Great dish. The flavorings are relatively light and subtle, and allow the natural flavors to shine. The trout tastes AMAZING. I don't care much for the radishes, but the pickled red onion, tartar sauce, and potatoes are an amazing pairing.
- ★★☆☆ Swedish Jam Caves -- I'd describe it like a mix of a shortbread and butter cookie, filled with a bit of jam. It's a bit too dry and crumbly for my taste, but I like the caramelized sugar on top and it's well balanced with the jam.
