General Notes
At the outskirts of Temescal, Homeroom specializes in mac & cheese. This place is pretty well known and popular too. The mac & cheese is pretty delightful. What stands out to me is that their mac is relatively al-dente, just the way I like it. They've got a good mix of classic and more inventive mac & cheese flavors, and there's something for everyone. I especially love their truffle mac & cheese (which is apparently a spring special). Would recommend giving it a try!
Dishes Tasted
- ★★☆☆ Bacon Brussel Sprouts -- slow roasted and tossed with bacon in a maple balsamic glaze. Bacon is lovely. Brussels are nicely caramelized but don't really have that nice savory fried flavor that I typically associate with brussels. The balsamic glaze is good but a touch too sweet for my taste.
- ★★☆☆ Elote Mac -- roasted sweet corn and spicy serrano peppers with sharp cheddar and Monterey Jack, topped with cotija, tajin, cilantro, and lime. Pretty solid flavor combination, though not quite as smooth / creamy of a consistency as I would have liked.
- ★★★☆ Truffle Mac -- every day we're trufflin'! gouda, pecorino, truffle oil, and sauteed mushrooms, topped with breadcrumbs. Cheesy, creamy, intensely flavorful, and perfectly al-dente pasta. So good!
