General Notes

First time having gyukatsu and it was absolutely delicious. It's an interesting concept; a beef cutlet is breaded and fried like tonkatsu, except it is cooked very rare, and you're supposed to finish it off on a separate grill on your own. I actually really like this concept because it allows you to eat each piece of beef warm, fresh off the grill (katsu is definitely not as good cold). The side dishes and dipping sauces work wonderfully with the beef too. It's hard to find this in the states, so would definitely recommend giving it a try if you haven't tried it before.

Negatives

> This restaurant is pretty small (17 seats only) with not much availability for larger groups; plan accordingly, you might need to wait a bit.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★★★ beef cutlet set menu -- comes with 1.5 cutlets, cabbage salad, potato salad, wasabi sauce, soy-based sauce, grated yam, pickled vegetables, rice, miso soup, pollock roe, and mochi dessert. The dressing for the cabbage and the WASABI SAUCE are SO GOOD.
