General Notes

Pop-up bakery by "Droo the Baker". Apparently he usually opens in south bay, and this was one of their first times opening in San Francisco. It was held at Honeybear Boba in Dogpatch. The baked goods were decent, although not particularly noteworthy. I would probably not return.

Dishes Tasted

  • ☆☆☆☆ Hojicha Black Sesame Mochi Cookie -- hojicha cookie dough, black sesame praline, soft mochi. The black sesame flavor is really strong and you can't really taste the hojicha. The main problem is that the cookie is REALLY dry.
  • ★☆☆☆ Vietnamese Honeycomb Cake: Pandan -- I think I'm just not a fan of honeycomb cake in general. The texture is nice but I'm not a fan of the caramelized flavor on the edges, and the flavor just feels very bland to me.
  • ★★★☆ Choux: Milk & Cereal -- choux pastry, cereal craquelin, cereal milk diplomat cream. I like the pastry a lot, it has an excellent texture and a little salty. The cream feels a little heavy and not as sumptuous as I would like, but still quite good.
  • ★★☆☆ Mille Pocket: Creme Brulee (pandan coconut) -- sugar puff pastry pocket, pandan coconut pastry cream, torched sugar. Pretty good, though not really my favorite kind of pastry -- it's kind of pure flaky without crisp and a little dry for me.
